Classic checkers

There is something about a classic checkerboard floor that is timeless and modern at the same time. I did have one in the kitchen of the first little Tudor I bought right out of collage. The floor was a classic black and white checkerboard which was so charming with the white cabinets, but the maintenance was not fun. With 2 dogs, the white tiles always seemed dirty. Unless you have someone to clean for you, maybe one of the softer variations like the hardwood with black squares would be a smarter choice.
